The mountain's call

Okim Otu 1989 (Borum-Boki)

the mountains call
with the gentle breeze
the plains,
with it charm and ease

steps up
through slippery rock
or soft walk
on flatten grass

to see the sun's smile
from the peak,
or hear the rain shower
on the plain

only one way I must go,
I choose the steepy slope
I'm bound the upward way
I choose to climb
I choose the mountain's call.

About this poem

The poet uses the mountain and the plain to describe the task of choice faced by humanity on a daily basis. Since success in life depends mainly on the choices one made, the poet therefore suggest that we answer "the mountain's calls" (choices that helps us grow)
