God's Rainbow

God's Rainbow
By Matthew Mernagh

We lost our faith for a while
We tried to run from ourselves
We almost gave up on love
We said that Heaven was Hell

We were so trapped in our skin
We were so wounded by lies
We had no purpose in life
We just had reasons to cry

We both were chained to the past
We both were stuck in our ways
We let bad days break our hearts
We let good times slip away

We never thought things would change
We thought we'd go to our graves
With little joy in our eyes
And too much youth in our veins

But all our sorrow would go
And all our struggles would end
We found a reason to live
We found God's rainbow again
