Lament of the Eternal

I’ve found you here
Holding you in hand
Death’s cold hand rests
A dark cloud falls upon the land
My mind is telling me to go

I’ve seen the world
A place both warm and bright
And peace upon my heart
But now I’ve pulled back the curtain
A face that’s cold and dark

To avenge thee,
So bittersweet,
How easy it be to fall?
My heart racing, the soul enraged
The end of life as we know

Upon the path before us
We’ll let the Shadow fall

Yet part of me still holds a part of you
Silent, wanting, lasting
May you return one day
From your cold path in death
And be forever with me?

For all these years you’ve heard me shout
To set me free and let me out

Such vile things the words you say
My God please say there’s some other way?

Cast away your childish reason
And let dawn the killing season

So let the hellfire rise
And embers blaze the night
Its fitting in my eye
Into the pit I cast the light

I’ve stayed inside for long enough
My time is close at hand
And in my fiery dead embrace
All the world shall end

Enraged soul and subsequent lament expressed well. Well done.
