Empathy

A never ceasing imbalance of effort

Appears to be the continuing endeavor

This time he thought he would be so clever

Apparently this curse will be his forever

Every word dissipated by distracted ears

A perpetual pariah clutching his fears

Once in a while there's a willing volunteer

But sooner or later they all disappear

Only to return with selfish necessities

Resuming all the habitual pleasantries

Looking for all the emotional charity

From one who has a disorder called empathy
