Street Lamps

We are sitting in your car, on the way to my house.

Driving down roads with cracked surfaces.

The light from the street lamps highlight me, and I hope you don’t notice.

Notice my hand slightly shaking in yours, because Im scared that one day your touch will only linger.

Notice my eyes concentrate on nothing as I think about being alone once again.

I hope you don’t notice me biting on my lip as I try to quiet the trembling of my chin, as a tear streams down my cheek.

I hope you don’t notice these things because you deserve perfection.
