Nothing to Me

How can someone

Who should mean nothing

Mean everything

A careless whisper

In the night’s glimmer

Where time runs raw towards darkness

Hearts beating

An intimate, yet blinding starkness

When someone who should mean nothing

Means everything

Feelings lie in diffracted light

Horizons of golden pink streaming flight

Clouds scatter when you move

A mural of your face projected into the sky’s muse

My sunset lover

How can this take form

My thoughts are not of intention born

Glaciers of feelings, and oceans of thought

Shuddering, taking hold of my heart like rot

You are really nothing more

Than waning shadow cast on the mountain floor

Flickering and dwindling in my heart

And now I know

Not for us, is the place where things may grow

On this path alone from you I must go

But from time to time

A sinking in my heart takes rhyme

Fills me with cold water

No light, no solace in the words of any other

Here is where I stand

Broken, beaten, barely man

On the shore of your cold sea

Waves rising, a storm inside of me

Currents of emotion and gravity of thoughts

Where the past leaves present and future utter loss

On the beach of your meaninglessness

Near the cavernous rift that is your soul

Everything means nothing to me

My storm takes hold

And light sheds on my heights

Where I leave you nowhere

You, now dangling at a cruel angle in the unsettled air

Your hollow and fragile figure laid bare.
