Cherish

How many children will you have?

As many as my home can hold.

How would you feed 'em all?

A home overflowing with laughter

is my happily-everafter.

As an afterthought, due to this banter

I will endeavor to eradicate our poverty

and lead them by example so

that they may grow ample.

Such were the dreams of

the young at heart,

born with the infinitesmal faith

of a mustard seed,

inclined to climb the

highest peaks until

reality comes a-knocking.

The mocking of those that

went before, surly,

decaying in bitterness,

living, forgotten, having

eaten the sour fruits of their labor.

Heed not their dour words,

for a houseful of children

I do duly keep,

reaping the bounty of

my riches, as I count my blessings.

Cherish their memories,

I give back,

in the form of poetry

as they read each story

of their history.
