student of orchids (after John Lennon’s Working Class Hero)

You can promise me riches & famish my mind, you can plough me with fixes &
publish my rhymes, you can give me a billion & set my world free, but a
Student of Orchids is nothing to be. You can buy me a girlfriend & promise
all time, you can suffer my silence & straighten my spine, you can giggle
& gaggle & be wild & free, but a Student of Orchids is nothing to be. When
they've told you I'm sentient, well you must see that the sentient soul is
all punished by greed, & the key to it all is that sentience flees, for a
Student of Orchids is nothing to be. You can pamper my mystery & make me
fly, you promise me garlands from heavenly skies; but there's only one
thing that you really must see: a Student of Orchids is nothing to be.
There's a cloud on the summit that never climbs down, & that cloud is
before you, that cloud is a sound, & there's only one thing, one thing
that is key: a Student of Orchids is nothing to be. & there's only one
measure, one thing that is key: a Student of Orchids is nothing to be: &
there's only one measure, one thing that is key: a Student of Orchids is
      nothing to be.
