Freedom rings in HIS-STORY
By: Kiara S. Themes
I remember trying to figure out why my ancestors were treated so badly
Why were there calloused hands and blistered feet on every black father who his children had to hear him call another man master?
Why were there tears in the eyes and deep oceans of pain in the heart of black mothers?
Who that same master snuck into their cabins at night.
I kept replaying the image of the fright
My view on black history had my ignorance stuck on repeat
Constantly contemplating allowing hatred to cause my own self defeat
When I was of the world, of the world answers is what I seeked
Until I met a woman who led me to a man
Which FUTHER LED me understand there is no black history without his-story
I said there is no black history without HIS STORY
Like Harriet who was inspired by Moses when he told pharaoh let my people go
She led her people so
By Christ God let her people go
Traveling through those dark paths to the Underground Railroad
And eventually to their freedom.
When Martin Luther King had a dream
On the steps of the Lincoln memorial he screamed
I have a dream, I have a dream
He told his father
Like Joseph he had a dream
Which eventually led to freedom.
But still one of the most heard questions in Black History conversation is
Why didn’t God block slavery
Because what God doesn’t block he will bless
The answer to a generation of questions
Slavery had to happen because it was predestined
Like when Israel came out of bondage with God’s provision
With all the materials for the tabernacle in their possession
See it is all part of divine process for us to be in a temporary wilderness
Notice I said temporary
Because pain doesn’t last forever it’s just part of the progress
And Christ is in the middle
So no matter what textbooks try to teach us about our history
They could never teach us about true freedom
Teaching me of black women and men being hung on a tree but never about the man that was nailed to a tree that freed them
About whips and lashes on the backs of black slaves but never about the lashes and persecution upon the one who saves
So Generations rise up, and realize you’re like Martin
There’s a king in you
Which points me to the true KING
THE KING PRIEST REDEMER OF THE NATIONS THERE IS NO BLACK HISTORY WITHOUT CHRIST IN THE CELEBRATION.
So allow me to introduce the first date in His-story when freedom rang
JOHN 19:30 WHEN HE CRIED OUT ON THE CROSS IT IS FINISED THAT’S WHEN FREEDOM Ringed, WHEN HE ROSE AGAIN ON THE 3rd DAY with all power in his hands THAT’S WHEN FREEDOM Ringed. WHEN CHRIST PROCLAIMED BY HIS NAME WE ARE FREE INDEED THAT’S WHEN FREEDOM REIGNED!
So the freedom of Jesus rings receive the call don’t ignore it
And I’ve never heard FREEDOM RING LOUDER THAN HIS-STORY
