Stop staring at her, stop criticizing her.

She wants to move past this and get over the hurt.

She did the best she could, she did all she knew to do.

Do you really think you could have done better, if she were you?

Sop whispering behind her back!

Why would you want to do that?

Reach out to her, grab her hand…

When’s the last time you tried to be her friend?

What’s being discussed lacks the truth and facts.

Surely you aren’t helping spread that?

There she sits alone and scared.

But you’re too busy to go over there or even care.

She’s been hurt, broken, and badly bruised.

In more ways than one- she has been awfully abused.

Words from verbal beatings, torment her thoughts.

Images and memories of pain never come to a halt.

What’s worse than that is the guilt and regret she feels.

Like a hurdle she’ll never get over, or an ever increasing hill.

It sits heavy on her chest, weighing her down.

Sometimes it hurts to breathe- that explains the frown.

The shame and the pain, will they ever go away?

Bruises fade, breaks heal, but memories are made to stay.

Stop staring at her, stop criticizing her.

She wants to move past this, she wants to get over the hurt.

She did the best she could, she did all she knew to do.

Do you really think you could have done better, if she were you?
