Findlay Ohio Main Street Serenade

Walking downtown on an autumn day,
Looking for a place that I might play,
Mindful of the daylight hours I have left,
Watching passersby on the courthouse steps,
Waiting until I’m caught in the winter snow
And the silence started deafening an hour ago,
People packed in Wilson’s to escape the cold
Or sit in Amici for a cup of joe,
Siting in springtime outside the Greek
And wave to the couples on the street,
The graduation day at U of F,
Mindful of the time we have left,
Then we hold hands on a summer night
When fireflies flash their tiny lights,
A table at the Bistro for the two of us,
End our night with Dietch Brothers chocolates,
Echoes from a hundred years yesterday
Mingled with the new things that have come our way
Where a California transplant singing downtown
Can find a little place where we can settle down.
