Let Go

I can tell that you're hurting, love.

I see it in the dimness of your smile.

the way I look in your eyes

& feel like I'm running for miles

just to get to you.

You're here but you're not here.

I hear…

all of the pain in your voice.

I see the way you let the music take you

just to block out all the noise

inside your head.

Thoughts racing like a speedway,

you dwell so hard on the past.

Thinking everyone & everything

will be just like everything that didn't last.

But what scares you so, my dear?

Is it really your memories

or just the pure uncertainty of the future?

I find you always running back to the emptiness

because it's the only thing that comforts you there,

You're accustomed.

The only feelings you've ever known…

Anger, confusion, sadness.

You'd do anything & everything

just to try to escape the agony & the madness

boiling within.

But if you let me in, I promise you,

there will be no reason to run

from everything you thought you knew

& everything you think you've become.

Let me show you.

I don't want to change you, but allow me to heal

your oh, so broken soul.

To take you from all that surrounds you

& mend a heart that's meant to grow.

You just have to trust me.

You have to learn to let go.
