the ocean sleep

Beneath the zinc waves
and the lime foamed capstones
of turquoise towers;

behind the underground
coral door, I drift. In a blue green
purgatory of sand,

the accordion stream
dissolves like movement, like sound,
like sun, like moon;

not awake, not asleep,
but in a near haven of treasures, empty;
submerged like the diver

deep, deep, deep.
I leave behind the waves, skies, birds,
and the fingered-keel of boats

to embrace the black
mother of sleep and to swim with the
purple dove that lives beneath

the blue, silver mirror.
