Ode to the Lamppost instagram: @stanzasforthesoul

A general riding a horse colored black

With perennials tucked into his cap

And too much hand on the bridle

His men esteem him as an idol

He gallops quickly onward

Ensnaring the sun to banish yonder

He sings “now the sky is mine!”

And the ghoulish men do a jive

Yet here you are to maintain the fight

Though forces of evil work to kill your light

They fail against your extreme luminescence

As you withstand their frightful presence

With a yellow which warms like a caring glance

The forsaken man with his head in his hands

Swaying side by side

With failing eyes

Now finds a friend in the attack of the night
