Letters from a Soldier.

Date Written: October 27, 2017

Dear Mom and Dad,

I Write to you from afar and wonder daily how you are.

I know you worry each day for me,

but I  am still alive and that is as good as it can be.

The world is full of many flaws ,

and I know that I am fighting for a cause.

But I do question when will it all  cease, will the war stop, will there ever be peace.

My Dear baby boy,

When I think of you my heart fills with joy.

I cant wait to see that smile on your face, just thinking of you,  my heart increases its pace.

You are so young , tender and so dear,  I so wish you were near.

I know you miss me a lot, especially when you sleep in your tiny cot.

I am out here just for you,

To protect our home and our future too.

Dearest wife, love and my life

I dream of you day and night,

I think about you quite a lot and hope when you see me it is not in that silver box.

Don't lose hope my sweet dear,

The reason why I am here,

Is that you do not live in fear.

I am fighting with all my might,

But I am not sure if we are winning this fight.

I am a proud soldier to protect and serve.

and I am comforted that I am protected by the  man above…..

They now linger around a silver box, somber, as tears roll down their cheeks.

Letters still in hand..they have lost their best man.

Who was so proud to serve his land.

They try to understand..

The baby boy  stares ….quiet right now, as if he knows,

his daddy will come home no more.

mom and dad ,

now so sad…..

and his wife, lost the love of her life.
