Australian Bouquet

Springtime begins with myriad colours,

Native Bluebells, Boronia and Pink Star Flowers.

With the warmth of the sun, flora bursts into bloom,

Fields of Wild Freesia; their scent over-head looms.

Summer then warms the Earth ever more,

Gum Tree Blossoms, Native Orchid and Kangaroo Paw.

Pink Heath, Tee Tree, Sturts Desert Rose,

The fragrance of these, God himself, chose.

Autumn; the Australian flowers are still on show,

Banksia and Grevillea refuse to go.

Flannel flowers, Myrtle and Maiden Hair Fern,

Such beauty God created; it’s given freely, not earned.

By mid-winter the Wattle is about to burst forth,

Along with Bottlebrush; facing the sun to the north.

A land of Nature’s gifts both beautiful and rare,

Is it a wonder our Anthem is ‘Advance Australia Fair’?
