Eyes and teeth are staring in
As they walk by from where they had been
It seems they stare, to honestly know
For an instant, then they turn and go
I look up, maybe to catch a glance
To invite company, a companion, by chance
But each time, no time they waste
Streaking by, overlooking me, in their haste
I know they have their lives all set in stone
But me, and for all my chiseling, I am still alone
I finish my tea and close my book
As I leave I walk around to look
At where I sat behind the glass
Watching the eyes and teeth, as they pass
For what they saw while glancing in
Was of their own image and self reflection.
