My Reflection

There’s a white creamy palette staring back in my direction

Yet behind the cream it’s full of lines, full of crevices and flaws

It is my reflection

From top to bottom and side to side, the map of life tells my story

The story of love, the story of hate, the story of fear and rejection

It is my reflection

I can’t look away. I can’t look further. I only see what’s directly in front of me

Making a list of the things I want to change but can’t and adding to my collection

It is my reflection

Still standing. Still staring. Still pondering my existence. My purpose

Finding flaws in my thoughts and how they arrived through deception

It is my reflection

My reflection. MY reflection. It belongs to me. It heals through me

I don’t need perfect hair. I don’t need unflawed skin. I don’t need perfection

It is MY reflection
