These lights, they burn
They dance, they turn

Rising from the wreckage of their home
They spread their winds and are airborne

When disturbed they rise quickly
Like a swarm of angry bees
But mostly they are sweet, lazy
A group of shimmering fairies

These lights, these lights
They burn so bright
So bright they fight
The starry night

Those who gather 'round draw warmth
From their night-light of a torch

They keep it for themselves but do not see
The tiny lights escape to fly, be free

But their freedom cannot last
They are fading, fading fast
Now, as I watch the bright lights fade
Oh! how I wish they could have stayed
