Smoke And Fire
by
Amber Kolm
Every time I breathe,
I breathe in smoke.
Whenever I dream,
It's so thick I could choke.
It fills my lungs,
To the point of pain;
The foulness of the air,
Makes my tears fall like rain.
I think about ALL I COULD HAVE LOST,
Every single day and night.
Just the memories I hold,
Are enough to scare away the "light".
God forbid I go to a bonfire,
The panic attack would be a big one.
For just the thought of smoke and fire,
Reminds me of my son.
I breathe in smoke.
Whenever I dream,
It's so thick I could choke.
It fills my lungs,
To the point of pain;

Long story short, my son set our house on fire while his sister and I slept. This poem was written shortly after that.
