I have seen

I have seen the sun set in the frozen valleys of Bosnia.
I have seen it rise in the burning dunes of Iraq.
I have held a new born child as it breaths its first breaths of life.
I have held a dying soldier as he breathed his last.
I have tried to give life and I have taken it.
I have felt the seething anger deep inside.
I have lost love and cried.

Do these actions make me a God or a devil?
On my judgment day I will revel.
Because then the truth will be known.
And maybe just maybe I will finally find a home.

What a gentle poem. The truth of your words are so clear and pure. This poem does not embellish, the story is told 'as is' and has a wonderful stillness to it. Loved it!

The life off a soldier is a tough one, it breaks my heart, to see the turmoil a soldier goes through. The aftermath that lasts a life time for some soldiers. Thank you for your strength and service

This is amazing. You went through a horrific experience and made it into poetry. My brother has not had the joy of doing that yet. Congradulations.
