Are you ready?
by
Ikram Khaliq
Oh rose, are you ready to bloom?
You have been encased for days
Living in utter seclusion
Sighs, as ready as I will ever be
Are you ready to fly, oh small bird?
Days have you spent in that nest
Learning to move and eat
Chirps, as ready as I will ever be
Are you ready to come, oh my child?
Months have you spent in that womb
Safe and secure, growing
Chuckles, as ready as I will ever be
Are you ready to learn, O man?
Years have you spent in ignorance
Being ingrate
Grumbles, give me another day
You have been encased for days
Living in utter seclusion
Sighs, as ready as I will ever be
Are you ready to fly, oh small bird?
Days have you spent in that nest
Learning to move and eat
Chirps, as ready as I will ever be
Are you ready to come, oh my child?
Months have you spent in that womb
Safe and secure, growing
Chuckles, as ready as I will ever be
Are you ready to learn, O man?
Years have you spent in ignorance
Being ingrate
Grumbles, give me another day

carry on your work, your way with words are what needs to be heard, simplistic, yet flows like a tranquil stream.
