Ride For the Brand

The novelist Louis Lamour coined this term decades past
Describing  how cow pokes lived till the very last
No matter how evil the ranch owner was
They rode for the brand

In modern times many of us continue this path
Even though our alligence is often a wicked craft
Whether it be sports, spouse or politics
We ride for the brand

We can't be swayed be evidence or truth
Abandoning the brand would be uncouth
No matter how many clouds ask us to see
We ride for the brand

When oh when will we ever see
Acceptance of truth to change you or me
We trudge along excuses road
For we will die riding for the brand
