The Lantern

the lantern in me has yet to burn
as my fight for freedom i did learn
while the lights in the sky were at bay
the light from my light burned all day
lessons were learned as i was burned
blinded by the stars in the skys
as the peace gleamed in my eyes
i was a lost soul lost i can say
for now when i look up i notice the day
as the sunshines within the shorelines
the shadows of the darkness leaves me blue
as i thank god for my blessing from me to you
tasting the fear and not knowing why
as senseless taunting no tears in my eye
for now when it's dark i'll think of life
the joys and pleasure not love sick strife
as i follow my own lead from this day forward
while my lantern of freedom shines on and on
for through the fires of a crash and back
i thank god for my mind again my life intact
