This Ebony Veil

How do I shed this ebony veil
The moment of now relinquishes tomorrow
My mind said good-bye to the lifeless heart of the innocent
While still cradled within my arms my heart is unconvinced
The warmth and the essence has vanished into the soil
Weep softly now for all that lives does pass
No matter how brief or long
The departed soul instills the seed
Of awakening yielding the echoes of anguish
I know I cannot escape this ebony veil
It will be an unwanted companion years to endure
A looming reminder that a mother's love cannot defeat chance
