Widowed mother of 3 amazing young adults. My youngest is 17 and driving!!!! Where has the time literally gone. I run a busy restaurant in OR. and have some trouble sleeping at night so I end up writing poetry. I had a 3-year gap since I lost my husband and decided it was time to let everything go and choose to live! I have my own copyright and am a published author. I would love to write a rhyming children's book one day.

The Pain I Felt

I feel my breath go cold, as I breathe out
a cloud of steam.
There's no way out of today, and the
heartbreak it'll bring!
You were my King. I was your queen.
There was no in between.
I could never of imagined my life without you
in it. I...

The Moon

Every time the sun goes down,
in the darkest of skies, a moon can be found.
Giving light, on a pitch-black night,
allowing imaginations to ignite.
Each time I gaze at the moon while enjoying
my view, I remember someone somewhere is
looking...

It Is What It Is

I have learned over time, that life don't rewind.
So, if you see a sign follow it don't let it fall behind.
It will become obsolete, and you'll experience defeat.
Life is all about taking a chance
and discovering your own balance.
Is it worth...

Confusing Myself

I am successful yet it's stressful.
I want to win as well as give in.
I'm tired of trying while in my soul I'm dying.
You think that over time,
I would have slowly lost my mind.
I don't know why I have held on
when all my ambitions remained...

Corruption

We are slowly erasing our history. We are
progressively becoming a mystery. The
government is stealing knowledge from our
kids. As pedophiles sell them for the highest
bids. Our rights will soon be a thing of the past,
once their true...

I chose this poem because it pulled my heart strings, it made me cry, it took me in the car past the park in the dogs mind. Very good poem.

This is a first for me. First poetry competition, first time paying a fee to
enter a contest, and first poem I've written since my husband's passing.
Since August of 2020, my poetry was put on hold until I wrote this poem
in his memory, and revisited the nightmare of that day. I hope I laid it all
out there and in a way that he'd be proud. Good luck to everyone!
