Growing a worthy man from a boy

I must have wronged raising my son!
Given he values nothing of
What's been given.
Treating all gestures of kindness
As though they were owed
While believing nothing is owed
To those who're giving.
Why does he feel crippled
Trying anything...

Note to dad

When I became a dad...
I realized
how wrong I was,
To you
As a son.
I yelled and screamed...
For days on end.
And said the things
No dad should hear
From a loved one.

Though I can never take,
Those moments
Back.
Nor can I lessen ...

I loved the subject as well as the unusual rhyming pattern. This poem is very direct and feels as though it's author was pouring his unfiltered thoughts on the page.

This is beautiful. And I agree with the notion that seeing your love one express themselves honestly is light years better than the edited version or a version that is premeditated to achieve a certain outcome rather then expressing what one truly feels.
