At The Lake

Anticipating optimistic, destination place
circular made dirt track go-kart race
mind on the settings of things to do
starting at sunrise, when the night was through
balsa wood 59 cent glider, with a prop
triple wind the rubber band, launch and drop
my uncles Cessna lay on the airport tarmac
empty seats to fill, I'll take the back
partly scared, partly unsure, first time air
uncle the captain says, "fly it if you dare!"
Landing to fish for elusive lake bass
Isabella warm summer water from a river pass
trail riding on little motorcycles, we fit
wearing a helmet so my head won't split
river riding tubes beware of the dangers
death tolls of the river, that took strangers
always finding fun at the age of innocence
that age, of beneficial blissful ignorance
places I'd been to as a child
places I remembered, then I smiled
