TRANQUIL LOVER’S SUNSET For Bridget Farrell

The moon faded in-and-out of mysterious, dusty clouds,
In the coming sunset’s interludes,
As I saw the ocean’s waves swish the soft, elusive, purple sand,
All was quiet as the quietness of the tranquil eyes of two wanting lovers
The evening, moon, sea and dust clouds,
Oh this illusion of lonely beauty was a sensation to my eyes,
Like the mysteries of lusty love fading with the moon,
The interluding sunset came swifter,
With the beautyful loneliness of desiring love,
So mysterious this illusion was to me,
As tranquility of lover’s want in the lonely sunset by the ocean’s sand.

 · 1962 · Hartford, Ct

Dr. Pinnock first wrote poetry in the institution he resided in inside a classroom at 8 years old. The typewriter was old and manual with a keyguard. A keyguard is a device with an opening for each key to prevent a person lacking fine motor skills from accidentally hitting a key. Dr. Pinnock was granted permission to use the class alone. He labored there typing for hours ignoring his cerebral palsy. Dr. Pinnock grew up with his family until August of 1970. Poverty forced his parents to make him a ward of the State of Connecticut. more…
