"A Poem To My Grieving Mother" by Gladys Yaa Mantey

A Poem To My Grieving Mother
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All will be well, mother!
Yesterday was bleak
With no sign of hope
No hint of comfort on the horizon
But...Today, even in the near hopelessness
We can still stretch, stretch our hopes
Beyond what the horizon whispers
That there is a brighter tomorrow:
A Tomorrow...where we can look
Back on what Today presented
And then whisper again to ourselves:
"If it had not been for the Lord
Who was on our side..."
Now, look how far Grace has brought us
In this Grace, we shall continue
To Subdue all our fears of what
Tomorrow shall present
But more importantly
We can also now look expectantly into the future...
At the Good things that Tomorrow
Can bring, the exciting moments
That tomorrow can offer...
Letting go of the fears of Yesterday
And facing the future boldly
Because no matter what yesterday brought
It pays to live and have Great Hopes
For the future; for our hopes mother...
might just become our reality!
All will be well, mother.
