Zesty Italian/ My Brown Eyed Girl - 7

The next morning
I woke up
And did the unthinkable
I performed order of protection
With just my shirt off,
And no boxers.
I found something
With pink in it.
I showed it to the camera
And said it.
“I Love you Pink.”
I knew this was going
To be a problem,
But I couldn’t help it
Because she rocked blue
For me
That’s all that mattered.
The next night
I arrived at work;
I could hear
The young girls
Talking and saying
Zesty Italian.
That’s the name
That ring out
In my head
Every time
She walks in.
That night
When she walked in
It was different
She was smiling,
And that’s
What gets me?
The most
I made her smile
And I could see it.

Zesty Italian/ My Brown Eyed Girl

About this poem

Inspired by my encounter with a young woman I would work with at The British Open Pub in Venice Florida in 2019. It was all about chance encounters, and it helped lift my spirits during my journey, and to always be remembered…
