If It Ain't Broken

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

If what is to be,
Has remained that way to stay unbroken.
For years and decades.
To update and renovate faults and blemishes.
But not completely break.
Purposely to replace.

Why?
Are foolish questions revisited to ask.
When a treasure not to know for what it is,
Is crushed into pieces.
Hoping to revitalize,
What was ruined to think it would last.
Gone.
That which has been broken.
Becoming a relic and a token of the past.
Yet frequently heard to hear spoken,
About the good of it to have had.

Why?
Why is it believed God has chosen,
Some people...
To select and pick as favorites.
Favorites never satisfied to participate,
In creating what has not been broken.
To break.
Over and over again.
Not witnessed in the making things better.
Yet on the scene making things,
Worse than ever.
Although will claim what has been broken,
Into unrecognizable pieces...
They and only they,
Can fix to mend.
What was meant to have been,
To leave unbroken.
Left as is to inspire admirers.

Who is it that thoughtless.
Although followed with permission given,
Would be so convincing...
To have people like this be given support.
And so willingly to believe...
After destroying what was.
Could be easily restored.
Without no one to notice,
Not only the cracks...
But also the fact of a mindless act,
Endorsed as well as supported...
Would do something like that.
Without an ounce if common sense to use.
Or in public.
Boldly show with no words,
Needed to express it heard to explain...
Of never learning to appreciate,
What had been valued to exist.

Yet take for granted,
Pieces collected from somewhere else...
Should be good enough to keep remembered,
That was once left untouched...
To reminisce again and again.
With fond memories kept in minds,
If not left behind lost.
Of the ones left to exaggerated.
And embellish.
What they can with a doing their best,
Knowing to protest and becoming upset.
Would make no difference,
To those expressing their regrets too late.
But hold on to hope to one day be forgiven,
For owning stupidity.
Left announced each passing hour of a clock.
As if confessing nonstop,
What they've  done to do and did to choose...
Had been wrong to then believe,
The act alone will increase in value.
With a sustained to maintain worth!
Like B.S. to hear more of it heard.

Leaving thoughtless deceivers to ponder if...
The more of it to spread around,
Has possibilities to nourish the Earth.
If enough of it,
Is patiently awaited to be dumped all over!
