A Bluebird's Song
In a bluebird's nest lies a tiny egg
Belonging to a wren, small and fragile
It seems out of place, amidst blue feathers
But a twist of fate, and it now resides
In a nest not its own, a foreign home
Where it will hatch, and a new story unfolds
The wren chick emerges, out of its shell it unfolds
In a home unfamiliar to the egg
A bluebird's nest, not where it was meant to call home
Yet it will survive, this tiny fragile
Creature, and grow strong, amidst blue feathers
Learning to sing, a bluebird's melody it chirps
At first it's a jarring sound, a bluebird's song from a wren's throat
But soon it becomes familiar, a unique tune that unfolds
A blend of two species, harmonizing their feathers
As the wren feeds from a nest that's not its own, but the egg
Has hatched a small bird, that's far from fragile
Learning to call this new place home
A symbol of hope, this wren in a bluebird's home
A reminder that beauty can come from a strange throat
And that even the fragile can be strong and bold
When unforeseen circumstances cause the story of life to unfold
In a way that is different from the original plan, the egg
That hatches into a wren that grows up singing amidst blue feathers
Perhaps it is fate, that causes the blending of the feathers
Creating a new sound, in a different kind of home
For a wren that once hatched from a bluebird's nest
Now singing its heart out, in a foreign throat
A sign that sometimes the best story events unfold
In ways that may seem fragile, but lead to lessons that are bold
And so we witness, this wren that lives in a bluebird's home
Singing a song that's unique, that springs from a strange throat
A testament to the power of fate, and a fragile egg that unfolds.
About this poem
Someone told me an old saying "If you put an wren's egg in a bluebird's best it'll grow up to sing a bluebird's song, and that inspired this poem
