Don't Mind the Rains
Suddenly the sun hides behind the clouds
The wind's whisper turns into a howl
It carries a certain scent, filled with rancor
Preceded by a redolent petrichor
A drop falls, at first it was nimble
Followed by another, and another
It caresses, a gentle drizzle
Yet reality hits, it deceivingly smothers
A spate of memories, as haunting as an angry sky
Engulfs my being, forces me not to defy
The things that were that I wished to forget
As if it wants me to settle an unsettled debt
A moment goes by, the drizzle becomes a storm
A wave of emotions that hits with scorn
Remember me, it shouts, remember what was
For I will not be forgotten, I will not give pause
This went on, drenching me to my core
It made me miserable with each passing downpour
Hopelessly I stood, I let the sky's waters engulf me
When a serene light shone, blinding me suddenly
"Don't mind the rains", it said
As this is but a moment spent
It will move on, this minute event
Your being will be relieved, your mind relent
I looked up and saw a slip of the sun
And suddenly the turmoil around is gone
The clouds are still angry but the storm eased up
That raging voice became more of a whimper, until it stopped
Silence took over, though everywhere is still grey
It seemed that the raging storm did pass today
I looked up, and saw a slip of the sun
I smiled back gratefully, and remembered I'm soaked but not done
