Why Can't You Love Me?

Why can't you love me?
What is it that I can't see?
I'm the only one who cares
That's how it feels usually
I crave the simple things
What joy brings
The freedom stings
This situation, I think
is toxic, I'm on the brink
of insanity
I need to find someone who can stand me.
Am I boring? Annoying? Clueless?
I'm not the prettiest or best dressed,
but on the days when you're most stressed
I offer my shoulder or chest
So you have a safe place to
close your eyes and rest.
Are you too comfortable in the chaos?
Or too content with loneliness & feeling lost?
Please look inside yourself
Stop projecting onto me like I'm someone else
Like you don't know me
I'm the perfect stranger
You betray, lie, and ignore me
Until I'm raging, full of anger
You'd be this way, too,
if I did that shit to you.
Why can't you love me?
Through all of this I've stayed
All of my memories stained
Unhealable pain
You're so unempathetic,
While doing so carelessly
Is that why you can't love me?

I live a pretty intense life. People pleaser extraordinaire. Boy mom x2. Music is my life. I spend most of my time writing poetry or doodling on my bathroom mirror with chalk markers. haha more…
