AUGUST'S REPENTANCE

August, a soul imbued with shame,
His blade betrayed, his face a fiery claim.
Beneath his helm, a countenance concealed,
A constant shroud, his failure unrevealed

His path was strewn with sorrow and regret,
For Elysium, the princess, he failed to protect.
Compelled by guilt, he sought redemption’s way,
Bound by honor’s chains; his heart constrained, he’d not betray.

With every stride, his armor enflamed,
A symphony of shame, his heart chained.
He cursed the blade.
And vowed to live for her, to purge his sin.
Before a mirror’s gaze, he dared to stare,
Remorseful eyes that held his soul’s despair.
With trembling hand, he shattered the glass,
A symbol of his resolve, of his defiant pass.

No longer would he break his sacred oath,
His shield would guard her, ward off every scathe.
In penance’s embrace, he found his might,
August, the knight, reborn in honor’s light.

An assassin’s blade, a fatal thrust,
Pierced his chest, a destiny unjust.

Yet still, his helmet remained in place,
A symbol of both pride and disgrace.

To serve the Princess, her fate unsealed.

Repentance gnawed, a consuming night.
In duty bound, he vowed to make amends,
To guard the princess, until his life’s last bends.

Beneath the shattered moon’s pale glow,
He gazed into his own reflection, filled with woe.
His armor glistened, a cruel reminder,
Of oaths broken, and a future bleak and dour.

With trembling hands, he sized the mirror’s frame,
And hurled it down, a symbol of his shame.
No longer would he bear such a disgrace,
For Princess Elysium, he would find her grace.

So bound by honor, duty, and regret,
Wounds that shall never heal and scars remain stained.

Twice only shall he bare his face,
As princess bids or through honor’s grace.

Twice, his helm will come undone,
At Elysium’s plea and award won.
With each reveal, his agony unfurls,
His pain a testament to broken vows and cruel whirls.

In honor bound; a knife through the heart he made that night.
