Where the road leads
Walking on the road of stone,
in my fear I turned around;
destiny said I was alone:
fore no sight, aft no sound.
Far did this road go back
to where my journey had begun;
I travelled on a single track
beneath the rising sun.
Where I stand
I do not know,
I've come so far
and further still I had to go.
I looked ahead
to where a fork
distinctly showed,
I dread, a parting in the road!
Swiftly it draws near,
soon I'll have to choose
if left or right to veer!
Somehow, I will lose.
Then love whispered in my ear:
"Follow me, if thus you choose;
trust in me and do not fear,
with life and love you cannot lose.
