I have always loved writing since I was 17 years old. I’m an educator DISD as a special education paraprofessional for 25 years. I wrote a poetry book and it was published by Publish America which was actually a self publishing company. The title of my book is Brighten My Day by Solanda Raquel Harris. I stopped writing for a long time because I had a setback when my son and brother passed away. The poetry book was actually dedicated to them because the writing helped me cope with their passing. I actually wrote another book about my experience during that time never published it. I would like to get back to writing poetry because this website is where I actually began writing and submitting my poetry won some awards but was not able to travel to the ceremonies to receive the awards.
