The ugly girl like me.

The ugly girl like me.

In my high school days, I learned the truth. The ugly duckling girls like me were never seen. I was a brown-eyed girl with hand-me-downs. Whose name they could never pronounce. The beauty queens who would get to serve only...

He Wants To Be A Man

Lord this boy is bright
as a ten-watt lightbulb
well, he needs some home-schooling
to properly integrate himself
into our society
Lord, don't send this boy to hell
take the gun out of his hands
please give this boy a chance
Oh Lord, don't...

Sad

Sad and Lonely
That's what Iam
No one cares
About me for
What Iam.
I try to do good
For my many
Friends but they
Always say I'm
No good to them.
They as for things
I can not give
They call me liar
And many other things.

Mother's Day

For Mothers Day I wrote a Poem
to gift you with these words,

So I could tell you everything

  I know that you deserve,
A heart of gold & words of steel
to both comfort and to teach,

A problem solver with wise advice

  I'm...

"I'm Selfish"

What is happening?
The thought kept racing thru my brain
What is this life I lead
Could I really be going insane?
For so long I tried
To make myself believe I was doing the right thing
I was so wrong
Now I am so ashamed
I fucked up
I am...

GOSSIPS

I saw them contradicting their lips,
and oops!
no good speech among their languages shall preach,
take no sip filling an empty glass to sheep enveloping people with misery that swipes watery daughters... yet oops with loose views,
no gentle man...

What is Love

Strong arms, soft touch
Sincere eyes, gentle lips
Words of wisdom, compassion
Loud mouth, big smile
Big brain, humble
Pain and heartache
Gladness and hope
Dreams and wishes
Giving and grieving
Kisses and hugs
Scars and bruises
Never...

Humans

Caution for those of you like me. It is in our nature to believe all humans have hearts. This is not true. Sadly many truly are heartless. This means they feel nothing. They will hurt you and feel no remorse about it. They have no love. When we do...

Tears

Stems of corruption,
Tears of destruction.
Running a mile away,
But coming back every single day.

I've filled the ocean with my salted tears.
I've seem to have lost all of my fears.
Night after night I cry,
Hoping each day the tears will...

Apostates

People rely upon a dream,
Defile flesh, snub authority;
Glorious blaspheme it may seem,
Speaking evil of dignity.

They will contend with the devil,
Disputing the body of Moses;
Judged blasphemous stir up evil,
Showing that they are...

Beginning to wonder about this site. I earned the 100 free views yet when I went to use it, I was told I had to pay $10. Figuring I missed something, I used the contact us form to ask for help only to find out that using the contact form costs $1. I am left wondering if I should bother trying for the free contest submission as I may not get that after I earn it either.

Don’t fret just yet....Though these incentive bonuses are a brand new thing (and I don’t know much about them) I do know a little about the dynamics of the site and it just may be that the master site has not been fully updated to reflect your progress....in my experience, it seems that if you do anything new after 8pm (roughly) it won’t get recorded until the next day l, so just bear with them and be looking for a notification or email.

Thank you. I will be patient. Though, I do wonder, is this site still moderated? I notice none of the people who run it have been seen for months.

I cannot speak to the former owners other than they are just that, previous owners ....The poetry.com domain got picked up by the Stands4 folks in early 2021 and from what l gather, our running much better than the old rendition, --but it is different than probably what you remember, l’m sure. And yes, it is moderated....

How can we "Subscribe" to an author, so that when they post a new poem we get a notice of it? That would be a really useful thing to do -

absolutely! Under each poet name you can click the 'favorite' button. You will then appear on their fan page and be notified when they post a new poem :)

HI Anisa, welcome to the site! If you scroll to the end of the poem you can read information including: date poem was written, date poem was submitted to the site, how long it takes to read the poem and also the number of views. It can take a while for your poems to get noticed - one way of getting out there is to promote your poem. It then gets featured on our homepage in the promoted poems section and you can enjoy your views rise there ;)
