Analysis of I SAW YOU
mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)
Last night was the first night I slept in many days, and there I saw you in my dreams even though the newer version of you lays beside me and keeps me awake during these once-numbered days. But last night, when I needed your comfort, I swear I saw you.
You spoke to me and said the one true love of mine, I have been dead for years; please move on, swallow your foolish pride, and wipe away those whiskey tears. I know that you will never forget my name, and just like you saw me, I saw you, and believe my word, she will love you better or just the same.
Darling, you will always stay with me, and what you found, at last, pleases me behind the eyes, the heart, and the mind can see. I saw you, and you said to embrace the dreams that you wished upon our star to come true.
