Analysis of A DAUGHTERS CRY
mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)
She looked at me in the same way as she did as a child. The only thing was these tears were not the same as these tears wore my name. She looked at me now so many years later, not as my baby girl but as a young woman.
She said to me these words of wisdom that I swore I heard before she, Daddy. I recall all those lessons you taught me when you thought I was not listening. She said, Daddy. You always said life was never meant to be easy, and if all those things you ever said were beautiful, you would indeed be free.
We continued with our walk and our talk. She continued to say, Dad, you are like a prize fighter always coming out swigging no matter the size of their opponent, but this time your rival happens to be life.
These daughters cry, saying Daddy, I'm proud of you no matter what happens or what people have to say. Be that hero that I know that you are because you came this far, and even with you broken and bruised, you refuse to quit because Daddy said Baby girl, I know you are growing up, but you know that I am still watching and mimicking your every move
