Analysis of Stuck in reverse

Kelley Davies 1983 (Dallas)

Slow down, Kelley

That's what they keep telling me

But I can't go any slower

I'm feeling like a failure and am trapped

In words I can't decipher

Cryptic messages that mean nothing to anyone

I want to get lost and drown in the ocean of love

But God tells me to keep moving

I want to go down to His water to be with Him always

But He keeps telling me to get up and get going

I just want to be with You, Lover

No longer a part of this world

No longer a part of this pain

This torment, and torture

I want to be with my Father, Friend, Lover

And to get lost down there in that field of timeless wonder and wisdom

Away from this hellish pitiful mess of my life.
