The kid who died

Vera Jade 2003 (Chennai)

Was I ever a kid?
when I was asked to behave till I was deemed acceptable,
when I was asked to hide from prying eyes,
when I was swiftly given a filthy label
Or
when I was asked to silence my cries?

Now the time is gone
And
I will never get to be one.
