That Man

The man I thought would be.
In reality was the man never for me.
My hopes and dreams to become a mom
Fell shortly when he threw the bomb.
Black eyes and busted lips well
       I was never phased.
When he kept saying he loved me ,
Gave me the reason to stay.
Pregnant at four months and was battling
The pressure of what’s to come.
Never would I realize he would kill my
      Baby before I could run.
Jail time he was in for and I left to a better place.
Never stay in a situation where life’s chances  could be your saving grace.
I have grown up to realize that even through rough times there’s a rainbow.
So I’ll wait for that shooting star because I still have my life to show.

About this poem

I was married to a man I thought I knew and was pregnant. His I love yours made me stay until I got pregnant and he killed my baby at four months by kicking me in the stomach. I set through it all until he hurt what I was blessed with.
