Weird they called us

Weird they called us
Still they wanted to be like us
Because we were authentic
We were ourselves
Regardless of how they tried to change us

Weird they called us
Our lights shined different
Different from the ones they already knew
Our presence was always felt even in our quiet state

Weird they called us
Because we saw things different from how they saw it
We saw the great in things they found bad
We had solutions to the happenings they had no solution to
We always understood the things they called stupid because of lack of understanding

Weird they called us
Because we laughed when they expected us to be sad
We saw the benefit in our situation
We always found a way out
We stayed true to ourselves

Weird they called us
Still they wanted to be like us
Because we were authentic
We were ourselves
Regardless of how they tried to change us
