pretending for the sake of others

I sit here, and pretend that I can float.
I always keep my back against the wall.
I hide my tears in a secret room no one can see.
I'm afraid if they know, then they will flee.
I pretend I can float because I know that I'm falling.
I can't fly.
So I try to be stuck somewhere in between.
My back is against the wall so nothing sneaks up from behind.
I hide my treats in a secret room so others don't show me theirs.
I pretend to be happy.
But maybe it's not fully a lie.
