Analysis of The Marionettes Dance

Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)

In the shallow depths
Of my porcelain smile,
The cracks reveal
The shimmer of deceit,
A facade borrowed
From the world's
Repertoire.
Behind closed doors,
Intricately veiled,
A masquerade blooms,
Puppeteer’s game,
And I,
The marionette,
Dance upon strings.
