Analysis of ONLY AS THE SEA

ONLY AS THE SEA

Pain, it's proof of life
Poor proof you ask me
As though the fact of strife
Is all that there is to be

But pain exists, as does joy
Some will say it mocks
That hope is pains you
A trap of stormy rocks

Pain, can roll over you like a wave
Racing in from across the sea
Tumbling me, can nothing save
This pain surrounding me?

Yet even tumbling in this wave of pain
I feel the ground below, hitting my back
If You give me strength, my legs can gain
Purchase for my feet, dug in, stand the attack

Lord, my pain washes over me.
You see and love even as my world falls
But my pain is only as the sea
While Your Love is over, and in us all

So as the waves of pain roll in
Lift me above on eagles wing
As you washed away my sin
So also take my pain my King
AMEN

About this poem

Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me. I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God. Psalm 69:1-3
