The Angry Woman
We’re seen as angry
Desiring the best out of life
Needing escape from heartache and strife
Determination at our door
Wanting more
For our family, our kids, ourselves
Pulling dusty desires off of the shelf
To provide, to protect
It gets hard and we become stressed
Tired, overwhelmed, frustrated and unappreciated
It hurts to sometimes fight alone
When you’re one with another
When you and you only have the push, the drive
When you seclude the lows and provide the highs
It gets heavy on your shoulders
But yet makes you bolder
To face this life head on
You have to be strong
But yet strong is seen as bold
bold seen as aggressive, not brave
The strength it takes to push through a day
Comes from deep within,
Hurts to not have your lover, your best friend
As your equal in the fight
by your side on the front line,
instead they don’t see
the one for whom they took a knee
the one they fell in love with
All they see is the difficult, the complainer
The strainer of what already is
just because we want more
They see the pusher, the negative, the ungrateful
All is fine the way it is
But there’s more to life than contentment
Why settle
It doesn’t stop our grind
Because we know we’ll eventually find
The goal at the end of the road
light at the end of that tunnel
For that life that’s just slightly out of reach
For we know WE ARE DESERVING
Working more does not make me ungrateful
Being bold does not make me hateful
Never will I be ashamed of my determination
just because it is not shared or understood
I'm not angry I'm not evil
I'm a mother, a wife a worker a friend
among other endless titles and positions
And I will succeed
My determination makes me strong, and beautiful
Not evil or angry
But talented, accomplished radiant
Bold and brilliant
Driven and resilient
I am and will forever be ME
About this poem
This poem is about a woman that is misunderstood. Her determination is seen as too much. Even to those she loves most. But she will forever be the bold woman she is to fulfill her dreams.
