The battle that is me

Hopelessness engulfs me, a darkness from within
Anxiety surrounds me, from birth a second skin
At night I question softly, why God won't end my pain
His silence it speaks volumes, a deafening refrain.

Intrusive thoughts they tell me, my biggest fears are real, my worries all are justified, the feelings that I feel.
I try to barter with my mind, for one night free of anguish. The more I try the worse it gets so in this hell I languish.

At dawn the sun comes calling, with it a brand new day
Distracted by the sunlight, my darkness slips away.
The birds they serenade me, with their morning song
Unaware their music, gives me strength to carry on,
The sun tries to persuade me, to dry away my tears,
But only God can save me, and he doesn't seem to care

Alas I feel the sadness, as often times before.
This is the day it takes me, I can't fight it anymore
